BabuBanarasiDas Institute of Technology and Management (BBDITM) became an Organization Life member of the prestigious Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) with effect from August 2019, bearing O.L.M number 12697. Indian Concrete Institute is a national organization of engineering professionals, who are employed in concrete construction and associated research in India. This is one of the premier institutes focusing on the training to working professionals in changing technologies in concrete constructions and promoting research work in concrete technologies. Till now, the Department of Civil Engineering has conducted 6 events under the banner of ICI.

The Department of Civil Engineering organized an Online Technical Poster and PPT Competition in association with Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) on 29th April 2020. The theme of this competition was: Covid 19 – Infrastructural Innovations to fight against Corona Pandemic. 183 students from various colleges participated in the competition.

The Department of Civil Engineering, BBDITM in collaboration with Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) from 8th June to 12th June 2020 to enhance the knowledge of the participants about the latest development in the field of civil engineering. 90 participants registered from 35 different organizations. Resource person of this event were Dr.Sudhir Mishra, Er. R.K. Singh, Er. Niranjan Singh, Prof. H.K. Pandey, Er. J.K. Srivastava, Er. Pramod Mishra, Er. R.V.K. Rakesh, Er. A.A. Farooqui. Dr.Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan (Director, BBDITM) kindly agreed to be the Patron and Prof. D.S. Ray was the Chief Coordinator of this event.

The Department of Civil Engineering, BabuBanarasiDas Institute of Technology & Management, Lucknow in association with Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) adopted a village named “Lonapur” in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on 12th October 2020. Lonapur is a small village located in Lucknow Tehsil of Lucknow district in Uttar Pradesh, India. A sanitization cum plantation drive was conducted in this village on 15th Oct 2020, where the whole village was sanitized with a sanitizing machine provided by the institute. Besides the sanitization, each household of Lonapur village was provided with a Neem tree (Azadirachtaindica) as part of the plantation drive. Along with the plantation drive, each household was given a packet containing a 100 ml hand sanitizers, soap, a pack of 4 masks. Furthermore, the faculty and student volunteers conducted a door to door COVID -19 awareness program, while maintaining social distancing and press on the need to wash hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds, sanitise hands frequently, social distancing and overall cleanliness. The perils of COVID 19 were clearly elucidated to the villagers and ways on how to deal in case of an outbreak of coronavirus were discussed.

Further, the Department of Civil Engineering, under the banner of Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), conducted a field visit to Lonapur Village, Lucknow on 24th Dec 2020 to identify the problem faced by the villagers vis-Ă -vis water supply, sanitation, drainage system, transportation and women’s health. Even though this village is very near to Lucknow City, the standards of living of the villagers were extremely poor. The faculties, staff and students of Civil Engineering followed all the necessary SOPs as per COVID requirements.

To modernize its B.Tech students of the new upcoming technologies in construction, the Department of Civil Engineering, under the banner of Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), conducted a field visit on 29th Dec 2020 to a fabrication lab attached with the ongoing ‘Shaheed path to Amausi airport flyover’ in Lucknow.

Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow along with the District Administration, Lucknow conducted an program on the 8th of January 2021, on the ways to upgrade the various Anganwadi centres of Lucknow to be self-sufficient. The program was held at Village Sonava, Block BakshikaTalab, Lucknow. The Department of Civil Engineering, BBDITM participated in the event as a organization life member of ICI. This event was conducted under the tutelage of Hon. Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel as a way to look into the malnutrition faced by children under the age of 5 years. This event was particularly important as it addressed the increased malnutrition occurring in the country since the start of the pandemic.
