About the Department

The Department of Management, BBDITM Lucknow started with a vision of developing the rural and urban students to become competitive managers in all functional areas of management to meet global challenges. The business school is backboned by experienced and well qualified faculty members, well stacked library of the institute, department library, good infrastructure and good placement record. The department has excellent track record of faculty members. The department has been practicing innovative teaching methodologies like Activity-Based Learning and Case Study Analysis. The department is offering Finance, Marketing, HR Production and Operation System and General Management Specializations. At regular intervals, the department keeps on organizing seminars, guest lectures, trade shows, exhibitions, workshops and management development programmes through various functional clubs. During this tough time of COVID-19, online teaching methods has developed as a news trend to keep the students update with the course coverage and knowledge sharing through Zoom app, Google meet, Google classroom, sharing of self-recorded videos on You Tube channel or through other social media channels. Not only this, the department also organizes e-talks, online quizzes, webinars, online Viva-voce etc. The department has also supported students in pursuing e-internship during period of COVID-19.

Guest Lecture-I

Department of Management organized a guest lecture on “Contemporary Corporate Work Realities-The Survival Kit Fir MBA Graduates” for MBA students on 12 February, 2020. The resource person was Prof. Pushpendra Priyadarshi, Associate Professor, Human Resources Management at IIM-Lucknow. Prof. (Dr.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, Director, BBDNITM Lucknow welcomed Prof. Pushpendra and a brief introduction about him was given by Prof. Nadeem A. Khan, faculty, Management. Prof. Pushpendra deliberated on the contemporary work environment in corporates and its transformation over the span of time. He shared about difficult challenges faced in corporate sectors and possible solutions to overcome them. He informed about various challenges which could be faced by MBA entrants. He talked about Boundary Management, Know Yourself, Career Landscape, Health & Relationship etc are some of the tools that he discussed in length. He also talked about human psychology where humans expect the world to change but they themselves are mostly stagnant. He shared with the students several tips that can help them to change their thought process toward any situation. Guest Lecture-II

Department of Management organized a guest lecture on the topic “21st Century Digital Transformation and Its Impact on Management Decisions” on 06 March, 2020. The guest speaker for the lecture was Mr. Ambrish Srivastava, Program Director, Tata Consultancy Services. He was given red carpet welcome at the hands of Prof. (Dr.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, Director, BBDNITM Lucknow and Prof. Nadeem A. Khan, Faculty, Management. Mr. Ambrish begun his deliberation on the topic ‘Hierarchy of Needs’ by Maslow where he compared traditional hierarchical needs with that of modern ones. He also shared his thoughts on various digital roadmaps, technological transformations taking place in modern business world. Talking about the journey of business world into Digital World he touched upon Digital Transformation Enablers and how Block-chain technology helps in the businesses to tackle the modern business challenges. He concluded his lecture by advising students on how they could adjust themselves in the rapidly modernizing corporate world. The program ended with Vote of Thanks proposed by Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav, HOD/DI, Department of Management, BBDNITM Lucknow.

Debate Competition

Department of Management organized ‘Debate Competition’ on the topic 21 Days Lockdown Is a Boon or a Bane. This debate competition was organized by the department for the students during the lockdown period when the entire world is fighting hard against COVID-19. The event proved to be fruitful as the student enthusiastically participated in the debate competition. Around 180 participants from over India took active participation. Dr. Rupak Srivastava judged the event and declared the winners. The event was patronized under Prof. (Dr.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, Director, BBDNITM Lucknow.

Poster Making Competition COVID-19

An awareness campaign was initiated by the department of management through Poster making competition. It was an open forum and was open to everybody. The title of the poster making competition was COVID-19.The competition was taken up by the students with great passion. They showed immense creative talents in canvassing their ideas. The competition was patronage by Prof. (DR.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, Director, BBDNITM Lucknow. Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav, HOD/DI, Dr. Shivangee Tiwari and Prof. Priyanka Singh were the coordinators of the event.

Quiz Competition

During the Lockdown Phase-II in order to enhance the basic knowledge of Arogya Setu app and self-awareness and precautions of COVID-19 the department organized an “E-Quiz on COVID-19” on April 30, 2020. The organizers of the quiz competition was Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav, HOD/DI, Dr. Shivangee Tiwari and Prof. Priyanka Singh of the department. The quiz was taken up enthusiastically by the students of management but also by other engineering branches. More than 100 student participants took the quiz. Winner who scored more than equal to 50% marks received an E-Certificate through their e-mails.

Video Competition

Department of Management, BBDNITM organized a video making competition on the topic ‘Social Awareness, Social Distancing and Precautions during Covid-19′ on 7 May, 2020. The competition was judged by an external jury member- Dr. Sankalp Srivastava, Associate Professor in Department of International Business at ITM Business School, Navi Mumbai and Dr. Manish Kumar, Assistant Professor at Shri Ram Swaroop University, Lucknow. The competition was floated on a wide scale on websites all over India and it received overwhelming response from the students across. The youngsters cheered up the competition and made exciting videos showing their skill of creativity.

With registration of 31 groups, 160+ candidates participated from various colleges such as National PG College, Aligarh Muslim University, The ICFAI University, LA Martiniere Girls’ College, The Chintels School-Kanpur, Central Academy- Lucknow, Awadh Girls Degree College, Sagar Institute of Technology and Management – Barabanki, etc. and varied view of the creative side of the students came to the forefront.

  • Overall 2nd Prize: Awadh Girls’ Degree College.
  • Overall 3rd Prize: MBA 1st year, BBDNITM.

E-Lecture Series

Department of Management organized an E-Lecture series on “Managing Your Career & Finances: Covid-19 and Beyond”. The lecture session was coordinated by faculty coordinators Prof. Nadeem A. Khan and Prof. Devendra K. Shukla. The events were held on 7th, 13th and 20th May, 2020. The tri-lecture event witnessed speakers with a treasure of rich, cross-sector and hands-on professional exposure in the corporate world, administration and wealth management. The first installment of the event conducted on 7 May, 2020, was addressed by Mr. Anubhav Shukla, Assistant Vice President, Centrum Wealth Management Ltd., New Delhi. Mr. Anubhav shared his banking and wealth management experiences with the students and faculty members at the event. Being a bio-tech graduate, he explained about the COVID-19 virus in a lucid language and clarified a number of myths. He shared his insights about the prevailing situation and the repurcussions it will have upon work conditions. He also talked about post COVID changed corporate scenario and how students could upskill to brighten their job prospects. In the second section of the event Mr. Chandan Mittal, Indian Civil Accounts Services and Mr. Rahul Agarwal, Armed Forces Medical Services, along with Mr. Shreyas Suri, IRS shared the ground realities of the present pandemic and the steps the Government is taking to alleviate the situation in terms of operational efficiency and economic well being. While Mr. Chandan and Mr. Rahul threw light on the administrative aspects; Mr. Suri shared the trade and commerce perspectives. The third and final sections of the series were addressed by Mr. Anubhav Shukla and in this concluding part he emphasized on the main focus of the theme i.e. Managing Investments and Career, specifically for students graduating that year. He stressed on the adaptability factor as the current situation is unprecedented or “Black Swan” but at the same time up-skilling oneself is one of the best ways to get through this phase. The entire E-Lecture series saw zealous participation 0f attendees from all walks of life. From students to working professionals to the self-employed, everyone took active participation. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks from Pro. Vinay Yadav, HOD/DI, Department of Management, BBDNITM Lucknow to the guest speaker Mr. Anubhav Shukla, Assistant Vice President, Centrum Wealth Management Ltd., New Delhi.

National E-Seminar

Department of Management, BBDNITM Lucknow organized a National E-Seminar on Data Science. An insightful seminar for all the participants was organized under the guidance and support of Ms. Alka Das Gupta, Chairperson BBD Group, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, Director BBDNITM, Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav, HOD/DI, Coordinators, Dr. Shivangee Tiwari and Prof. Priyanka Singh along with other faculty members of the department.

The honorable speaker for the seminar was Er. Rituraj Dixit, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Rakshpal Bahadur College of Engineering and Technology. There were over 300 registrations for the event. The seminar had a large number of participants from various cities like Mumbai, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Kerala, Naintal, Uddham Singh Nagar, Bangalore, Dehradun, Jaipur, Amritsar, West Bengal, Kanpur, Lucknow and Gorakhpur. The participants included many faculty members of different departments and colleges. MBA, First Year

The distinct topic of Data Science was chosen to make the students aware about the usefulness of data science for management professionals. Among the wide range of topics discussed in the seminar some of them were – introduction to Data Science, Its Application and Life Cycle, Machine Learning Role in Data Science and the Future of Data Science. The session was full of great ideas and learning that eventually lead to an interactive session between the students and the honorable speaker. Many students like Ishita Mishra, Riya Srivastava, Umra Parvez Khan, Aryan Agrahar, Harsh Joshi and Harshit Joshi put up questions as part of their query pertaining to the topic. The session proved to be very interactive and kept engaged the students throughout. A discussion on how online learning can increase with the help of data science was also deliberated by the guest speaker.

Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav and Prof. Shivani Mishra proposed Vote of Thanks to the honorable speaker for sparing his precious time and enlightening young generation to dwell into the advancement of technology. The event was well-organized under the supervision and coordination of faculty and student president Divyanshu Singh student, MBA, Second Year.

Essay Competition

The Department of Management BBD NITM organised an essay competition titled ‘Impact of Covid-19 on Indian Economy Slowdown’ on 13 May, 2020. It was judged by external jury members Dr. Rajendra Prasad Yadav, Principal, Government Inter College, Ambedkar Nagar and Ms.Tahira Saad, Motivational Speaker, English Trainer and English facilitator at My- School, Lucknow.
Lockdown period has created great trouble for ‘economy’ of the country and as a matter of fact, it has slowed down to a large extent. This essay writing competition was meant to add on remarks from the participants for proving possible solutions to have it accelerated and bringing it to a regulation mode which has come almost to a standstill under great repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic.
This was a very successful event and received entries from all over India. With a great number of registrations, more than 47 candidates participated from various colleges across the country. Names of some colleges are: National Institute of Technology- Tiruchirappali, The ICFAI University, Galgotias University, Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, St. Mary’s Convent Inter College, Allahabad, Nirmalagiri College- Koothupara, Surajmal Agarwal College of Para Medical and Health Science, Sagar Institute of Technology and Management, Barabanki, Isabela Thoburn College- Lucknow, Banaras Hindu University, etc.

Under the able patronage of Director BBDNITM Prof. (Dr.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, the event turn out to be a great success. Moreover, it was also the result of the hard work put in by the event coordinators Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav ,HOD/DI, Dr. Shivangee Tiwari and Prof. Priyanka Singh in cooperation with Divyanshu Singh, student coordinator.

Webinar

Department of Management, BBDNITM, Lucknow organized a two-day webinar on “Innovation for Entrepreneurs from Idea to Market”. An insightful seminar for all the participants was organized under the guidance and support of Prof. (Dr.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, Director BBDNITM Lucknow. The coordinators of the webinar were Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav, HOD/DI, Dr. Shivangee Tiwari and Prof. Priyanka Singh under the advisory of Prof. Neha Tripathi and other faculty team involved from the department.

The honourable speaker for Day-1 on 16 May, 2020 was Mr. Sandeep Dwivedi, Innovation Officer at Council of Science & Technology, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Hon’ble speaker for Day-2 on 17 May, 2020 was Mr. Shashi Kant Dwivedi, Assistant Manager, Canara Bank. The seminar was joined by a large number of participants from various cities like New Delhi, Kerala, Dehradun, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kanpur and Gorakhpur etc. The participants also included faculty members from different departments and colleges across Uttar Pradesh. The event begun by the welcome note of Iffat Khan, student MBA, First Year.

Topic Innovation for Entrepreneurs of Day-I was chosen to make the students aware about the need for innovation in daily life and the ways through which this can be achieved. The seminar also covered topics of Start-ups and of funding those start-ups to motivate young generation, so that they could help India becoming self-reliance. Among the wide range of topics discussed in the seminar, some of them were– Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Start-ups, Digital Marketing and Intellectual Property Rights etc.

Topic Innovation in Loans of Day-II was taken up to help the participants in understanding the role of ‘loan’ for an entrepreneur. The seminar also covered topics related to the ‘Need of Loans for Start-ups’, various schemes related to loans and the ways through which young entrepreneurs can apply for such loans. Some other topics discussed in the seminar were – Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Bank Loans, Government Loans and Recent Schemes of the Government. Both the sessions were full of great insights, suggestions and learning. The sessions also had interaction between the speakers and the participants. Many questions were put up by the participants and were gratified by the honourable speakers. The session was interesting, interactive and insightful and it made the participants spell bound and intact to their seats till the end of the seminar.

The event was very well managed and organized by the faculty members and student president Divyanshu Singh, student, MBA, Second Year.

He also thanked entire BBD group and all the faculty members for providing such a platform to attend the webinar to enhance their knowledge even during the phase of difficulty.

Case Study

To make the students understand the impacts of breaking and slowing economy of the country during the pandemic phase of COVID-19, an online case study session was organised by the department of management. Henceforth, a brainstorming session was conducted online in which students enthusiastically participated and shared their views about the methods of handling the economy through this phase of trouble. In the online case study session, the students were given case study on the topic of ‘Slowing Economy during COVID-19’ and were asked to have it solved within the stipulated time by bring up best possible results.
The event was organized by Prof. Neha Tripathi, faculty, department of management, BBDNITM, Lucknow. The event was judged by Prof. Priyanka Singh and Dr. Shivangee Tiwari from the department of management, BBDNITM, Lucknow. More than 150 student participants of the department worked on the case study and provided best possible outcomes. The event came to an end with a motivational speech by Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav, HOD/DI, BBDNITM, Lucknow.

Webinar

Department of Management, BBDNITM, Lucknow organized a webinar on 19 May, 2020 on the topic “Entrepreneurship & E- Tailing Export Opportunities”. The session of the webinar was taken up by the keynote speaker, Mr. Akhilesh Pratap Singh, Founder and CEO of Xnetic Pvt. Ltd. The keynote speaker spoke on the concept of Entrepreneurship and the problems they could face during the phase of Lockdown. He also threw light on the future of E-Tailing commerce its emergence. The keynote speaker summed up his deliberation by taking up questions from the audience and providing concrte solutions.

The lecture session comprised of three segments:

  • First Segment covered discussion on the topic: “How to get money work for you”
  • Second Segment covered discussion on the topic: “Start-up Requisite”
  • Third Segment covered discussion on the topic: “Impact of COVID-19 on E-commerce.

The webinar focused on learning and making the students aware about current scenario of market trend and how Indian economy reacted during the lockdown period. Moreover, the discussion also emphasized on the upcoming strategies which should be adopted to boom the market.

Honourable Chairperson, Ms. Alka Das Gupta, Prof. (Dr.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, Director, BBDNITM, Lucknow remained the patrons of the webinar. Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav, HOD/DI of management department remained the advisory person. Coordinators & Mentors of the webinar were Dr. Meetu Pandey & Prof. K.K. Pandey. Prof. Nikita Mishra was the convener and Prof. Neha Tripathi was the co-convener of the webinar. Conference

A Two-Day National E-Conference on “Managing Innovation: Guiding the Way into the 21st Century” was organised by the department of management under patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, Director BBDNITM Lucknow. Coordinators of the conference were Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav, HOD/DI, Dr. Shivangee Tiwari and Prof. Priyanka Singh along with other faculty members of the department.

The Chief Guest of the conference was Prof. Mahrukh Mirza, Vice Chancellor, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University, Lucknow. Special guests and keynote speakers of Day-I i.e. on May 23, 2020 included- Prof. Anurag Agarwal, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Commerce, Swami Sukdevanand, P.G. College, Shahjahanpur and Dr. Neeraj Shukla, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Urdu, Arbi-Farsi University, Lucknow for and Scientist Dr. Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, the Father of Scientoonics, scientist at CSIR- Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR-CDRI) for Day-2 i.e. May 24, 2020.

Participants included eminent personalities like researchers, scientists, professors, faculty members and many students who joined the conference from all over India. The event was commenced by Dr. Shivangee Tiwari and Prof. Priyanka Singh who gave a warm welcome to the dignitaries.
Honorable Chief Guest shed the light on the topic of ‘innovation’ and why it is required with the advancement of time. He explained the need for innovation and its impact on individual, society and the nation. Prof. Anurag Agarwal, the first speaker of Day-I very efficiently explained the role of innovation in COVID-19 situation. He very efficiently and intelligently moulded his talk back to the topic of discussion which was “Managing Innovation: Guiding a way into COVID-19 Century”. He very patiently and skilfully explained the recent concerns like economic challenges, health issues, social problems, marketing related innovations and opportunities during COVID-19. Dr. Neeraj Shukla, second keynote speaker then took over the session and explained about the concept of innovation in modern times. He took up various examples and case studies to imply that innovation can benefit not only to large firms but also to small organisations and even people working in an un-organized sector. He also explained the importance of innovation in day to day life and that it cannot be overlooked for growth and development.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, shared his valuable inputs in the second round of discussion on Day-II of the session. He talked about the concept of ‘Scientoons’ and how it has become a global technique for educating students. He also covered topics such as- Bioinspired Engineering, Use of Nano-technology in Manufacturing Sustainable Products like Scratch-proof cars, Strong yet light weight ceramics and Sharklet technology to prevent bacterial attachment in hospitals and other healthcare facilities which will reduce the chances of infection in people working or visiting there.

The conference turned out to be a resourceful learning edge filled with ideas not only to educated participants, but also to motivated them to harbour innovative thinking in their daily approach towards life. The conference was interactive as many questions were asked from the speakers for which they gave gratifying responses. The conference was very well organized and managed by the faculty coordinators. Divyanshu Singh, student MBA, Second Year along with other faculty members of the department shared their valuable time in arranging and coordinating the event. Dr. Manisha Shukla, faculty department of Chemistry, proposed Vote of Thanks to the Honorable Chief Guest and the dignitaries present at the session for sparing their valuable time and enlightening the audience with their rich treasure of knowledge. Harsh Joshi, student, MBA, First Year concluded the session by extending sincere regards for the attendees especially to the chief guests and dignitaries.

Seminar

Department of Management, BBDNITM, Lucknow organized one day webinar on the topic Data Analytics. The seminar was patronized by Prof. (Dr.) Bhavesh Kumar Chauhan, Director BBDNITM and was coordinated by Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav, HOD/DI, Prof. Anurag Tiwari, Training & Placement Officer, Dr. Shivangee Tiwari and Prof. Priyanka Singh, faculty, department of management, BBDNITM, Lucknow.

Mr. Asit Pathak, Director Digipodium was the keynote speaker. The webinar was interactive in nature and allowed the discussion of ideas between the speaker and the participants. The session of the webinar was attended by large number of participants across the country. Not only this, many faculty members from different department and colleges also joined the webinar and participated enthusiastically. Dr. Shivangee Tiwari and Prof. Priyanka Singh of management department initiated the session by welcoming the participants and the keynote speaker. Ishita Mishra, student MBA, First Year introduced the keynote speaker to all the present participants at the webinar.

The webinar rolled round the topic Data Analytics in the words of the keynote speaker Mr. Asit Pathak. Mr Asit deliberated on the need for the management professionals to understand the role of data analytics in almost every sphere of business practices and decision making. He shared his knowledge on Components and Tools of Data Analytics, Current Demand of Data Analytics and the career options available to the students in the field. The webinar included many question-answer rounds by the speaker and the students. The session emerged to be packed with learning modes and insight for every participant. Prof. Vinay Kumar Yadav extended his gratitude towards Mr. Asit Pathak for sparing his precious time for the webinar and enlightening the students and the faculty members on the importance of the topic. Divyanshu Singh, student president of management proposed Vote of Thanks to the keynote speaker as well as to all the dignitaries present at the webinar.
